The Premier League leaders and reigning EPL champions Manchester City contest an Anfield blockbuster with Liverpool.
The two most exciting teams in the EPL also occupy the top two spots in the table, with City overtaking their hosts at the summit last weekend.
Daniel Sturridge came off the bench to stun former club Chelsea and seal a point for the Reds at Stamford Bridge last weekend.
It sealed a point following Eden Hazard’s first half opener and kept all three sides unbeaten in the race for the 2018/19 title.
Jurgen Klopp’s men had enjoyed a perfect Premier League record up to that point.
They had won all six of their opening fixtures – against Southampton, Tottenham, Leicester, Brighton, Crystal Palace and West Ham.
And the last-gasp nature of Sturridge’s wonderstrike left Klopp and Co feeling for all the world as if they had recorded win number seven.
Manchester City have enjoyed a commanding start to their title defence.
Pep Guardiola’s side usurped Liverpool at the top thanks to victory over struggling Brighton at the Etihad Stadium.
Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero scored either side of half time to seal three points, as well as a third consecutive clean sheet for the title holders.
They lead the Reds at the top on goal difference thanks to their division-leading goals scored column of 21, as they average three goals a game having topped 100 last season.
If it’s half as good as last season’s meeting between the two on Merseyside, we should be in for a cracker.
